Hair Removal Prep
1. Before and in between waxes you want to exfoliate and moisturize area. Exfoliate your body regularly to slough off any dead skin cells to prevent ingrown hairs and to relieve ingrown hairs before wax appointment.
2. Hair must be 1/4 " to 1/8" long. I might be able to trim depending on area. If it's too long it will be more painful.
3. Always wear comfortable, clean clothing to prevent from irritating area getting waxed.
4. If getting first time Brazilian/Bikini, wear cotton underwear and loose fitted bottoms. Everyone's skin is different and some may be more irritated and sensitive than others. Frozen paper towel ice bags may be available.
Post Waxing
1. Little bug bite looking bumps may appear after waxing. This is normal and typically only lasts a couple of hours but may last up to 24 hours.
2. Make sure to cleanse hands if you will be touching freshly waxed skin. If Brazilian area has been waxed, refrain from having sexual intercourse for 12-48 hours to ensure the pores are closed. If area gets exposed to bacteria than it is prone to an infection and irritation.
3. A cold rinse after a wax could be beneficial to help tighten and close the pores.
4. Wait 24 to 48 hours to exfoliate area. Exfoliating in between waxes is very important to help prevent ingrown hairs.
5. Keeping skin hydrated will also help with ingrown hair and help with comfortable regrowth.
6. Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, deodorant, hot baths/showers, saunas and swimming pools for 24 hours, as all of these could irritate the skin or cause infection.
Contraindications
The Following may prevent your from being able to be waxed due to health and hygiene purposes. Some conditions are considerable with a doctors note.
1. Lice
2. Stye
3. Boils
4. Scabies
5. eczema
6. Shingles
7. Psoriasis
8. Impetigo
9. Sunburns
10. Ringworm
11. Genital Warts
12. Conjunctivitis
13. Raised moles with hair
14. Cold sores (Herpes Simplex)
15. Any abrasions, cuts, or bruises
16. Recent scar tissue - under six months
17. allergies to certain ingredients in wax and/or products
18. Medication: Retin A, Accutane, Steroids, and any other medication that causes thinning of the skin.
19. Diabetes: Skin takes longer to heal and may have poor circulation along with blood sugar levels may need monitoring.
20. Varicose Veins due to being so close to the surface of the skin, there is slight chance the vein will rupture and cause bleeding.
21. Menstruation or pregnancy due to high levels of hormones which stimulate the hair regrowth is most active. Keep in mind when scheduling that pain level may be increased.
22. Spray Tan or Self Tan. waxing may cause patchiness and remove bronze from area.
